Percy Cox

Percy Cox

Percy Zachariah Cox (født 20. november 1864 i Herongate i Essex, død 20. februar 1937 i Melchbourne i Bedfordshire) var en britisk offiser og diplomat i det britiske mandat Mesopotamia.

Han ble i september 1918 chargé d'affaires og fungerende minister i Teheran. Der avløste han dermed Charles Marling. I sin tid der utarbeidet han den britisk-iranske traktat av 1919.^{[trenger referanse]}

I 1920 overtok han som British Civil Commissioner Arnold Wilsons post i Bagdad. Han etablerte Iraks armé og sørget for at landet fikk en forfatning.^{[trenger referanse]}

Etter at hans embedstid var omme, gikk han inn for opprettelse av Kuwait som autonom stat.^{[trenger referanse]}

Cox viet mye av sitt senere liv til Royal Geographic Society, som han var president for fra 1933 til 1936.^{[trenger referanse]}
