'''Owen Lattimore''' (født [[29. juli]] [[1900]] i [[Washington, DC]] i [[USA]], død [[31. mai]] [[1989]] i [[Providence (Rhode Island)|Providence]] i [[Rhode Island]] i USA) var en amerikansk [[sinolog]] og [[mongolog]] som på [[1950-tallet]] ble anklaget for å være kommunistisk agent i USA. 

Owen Lattimore vokste opp i [[Tianjin]] i [[Kina]]. Fra [[1926]] ble han opptatt av sin forskning og forfatterskap, og gjennomførte forskningsreiser i [[Mongolia]], [[Xinjiang]] og [[Mandsjuria]]. Hans innflytelsesrike verker ''Manchuria: Cradle of Conflict'' (1932) og ''The Mongols of Manchuria'' (1934) ble til i denne perioden.

Han underviste ved [[Johns Hopkins University]] i [[Baltimore]] 1938 til 1963. 

I [[1950]] ble han av senator [[Joseph McCarthy]] beskyldt for å være [[Sovjetunionen]]s fremste spion i USA, men en senere granskning renvasket ham for anklagen. Det skulle imidlertid gå helt til [[1955]] før alle anklager mot ham var avvist.

Årene 1963–70 underviste han i kinesiske studier ved [[Leeds University]] i [[England]]. 

Blant hans senere bøker kan nevnes ''America and Asia'' (1943), ''The Situation in Asia'' (1949), ''Pivot of Asia'' (1950), ''Ordeal by Slander'' (1950), ''Studies in Asian Frontier History'' (1962) og ''Silks, Spices and Empire'' (1968).
