Av respondentene, identifiserte et flertall seg som aseksuell, men omtrent en tredjedel av respondentene identifiserte seg ikke som aseksuell, noe som fremhever at aromantisme ikke er kun en underkategori av aseksualitet og ikke bare bør anses som sådan. Folketellingsforfatterne innrømmet at respondentens deltaker«pool» overrepresenterte personer som identifiserte seg som aseksuelle så vel som andre geografiske, demografiske og språklige skjevheter da folketellingen bare var tilgjengelig på engelsk og på grunn av den hovedsaklig online rekrutteringsmetoden. Organisasjonen planlegger å gjenta folketellingen på halvårlig basis.

En annen samfunnsundersøkelse ble utført i 2021 innenfor det aromantiske samfunnet, spesielt rettet mot det alloseksuelle-aromantiske mijøet for å markere eksistensen av aromantiske mennesker som ikke er aseksuelle.
