Anthony Fisher studerte [[historie]] og [[rettssvitenskap]] ved [[University of Sydney]] og arbeidet deretter som advokat. I 1985 trådte han inn i [[dominikanerordenen]], og studerte [[katolsk teologi]] i [[Melbourne]].
===Prest===
Han ble presteviet 14. september 1991 av biskop [[Eusebius John Crawford]] O.P. I 1995 tok han doktorgrad i [[bioetikk]] ved [[University of Oxford]]. Fra 1995 til 2000 underviste han ved [[Australian Catholic University]] i Melbourne. Han vat i  2000 grunnleggende irektør fot Det pavelige institutt ''Johannes Paul II'' for studier av ekteskap og familie ved [[Lateranuniversitetet]], og fikk lærestolen i bioetikk og moral. Han var dessuten stedfortredende ''Chancellor'' for [[Catholic Institute of Sydney]].

Fisher skrev flere bøker om bioetiske og motalske spørsmål. Den 16. juli 2003 utnevnte [[pave Johannes Paul II]] ham til [[titulærbiskop]] av ''Buruni'' og hjelpebiskop i Sydney. Han ble bispeviet den 3. september 2003 av erkebiskop George Pell av Sydney, medkonsekratorer var kardinal [[Edward Bede Clancy]], emeriterte erkebiskop av Sydney, og [[Bernard Cyril O'Grady]] O.P., biskop av [[Gizo]].
