==Symptomer og tegn==
Det finnes mange ulike atferdsmessige og fysiske tegn som assosieres med anorexia nervosa, men ikke alle disse tegnene er nødvendigvis tilstede hos den enkelte som er rammet. I tillegg til tydelige dermatologiske tegn som [[vellus]] (kropps- og ansiktshår; for å kompensere for vekttapet, erstatter kroppen fettet med hårvekst for å beholde varmen), kan AN også føre til tannskader og/eller tap av tenner. Magen kan bli oppblåst, og leddene kan bli hovne. Arten av og alvorlighetsgraden av tegn og symptomer varierer fra tilfelle til tilfelle, og symptomene kan være til stede uten å være synlige.
